The tile survey is one of the routine activities of BPS to collect data on the productivity of food crops, especially rice commodities. This survey was conducted at the same time as harvest time by farmers. Productivity data for food commodities is very important because it is directly related to food security data. Starting in subround 3 (September-December) 2018, tile surveys for rice commodities were carried out using the Area Sample Framework (KSA) approach.

 KSA itself is a new method developed by BPS in collaboration with various institutions in order to improve the method of collecting data on harvested area which was previously only based on eye estimates. This method is carried out in a more objective and modern way by involving technological devices in it, so that the data collected becomes more accurate.
