About the 2023 Agricultural Census

Complete and comprehensive basic statistical data on the agricultural sector are collected through the Agricultural Census. Based on Law No. 16 of 1997 concerning statistics, the implementation of the Agricultural Census is the duty and responsibility of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The Agricultural Census is carried out every 10 (ten) years, namely in the year ending with the number 3.

The 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) is the 7th Agricultural Census. ST2023 activities are carried out to accommodate the variables needed for the completeness of agricultural data to develop very dynamically, answer data needs both at the national and international levels, and are designed to obtain international standard results with reference to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) program known as the World Program. for the Census of Agriculture (WCA).

ST2023 is a major activity consisting of a series of stages of activity beginning with planning, preparation, data collection, data presentation and analysis. ST2023 activities have started since 2021 and it is planned that all activities will end in 2024.

One of the important stages in ST2023 was data collection which was carried out in June-July 2023. This data collection activity involved many officers from both the organic BPS and partners.
