Monday (28/10/2024) The Central Bureau of Statistics of Bandung City held a ceremony to commemorate the 96th Youth Pledge. In his remarks Samiran, as the Head of BPS Bandung City, delivered remarks from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. Today the Indonesian nation commemorates an important event in the history of Indonesian nationality, namely the Youth Pledge Event in 1928.

The great values displayed by the generation of the 1928 Youth Pledge must be echoed repeatedly at all times to strengthen the awareness and character of the Indonesian people, in the face of various changes in situations and conditions that are very fast, which can make the strength of the nation degraded to weaken the strength of the Indonesian people to maintain the existence of Indonesian nationality in a sustainable manner.

The commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day in 2024 coincides with the transition period of the new government which will orchestrate the steps of the Indonesian people to realize the medium-term development targets as the basis for achieving the 2024 long-term development targets, namely the realization of a Golden Indonesia characterized by higher progress and prosperity and a stronger Indonesian nation and global arena.

This momentum is an opportunity for the Indonesian people to pay greater attention to the youth development agenda as an important part of Indonesia's development, both in the position of youth as a subject of development and as an object of development. As a subject of development, some Indonesian youth have the ability to actively participate in various sectors of national development, even in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) agenda which is a global agenda.

The expectation for youth to play a greater role in Indonesia's National Development is appropriate, because in essence youth are the owners of the future. The results of this achievement can be identified from the achievement of the Youth Development Index or IPP. As an indicator of youth quality in 2024, the Youth Development Index is at 56.33 percent, with details of the achievement of the Education domain at 70 percent, the health and welfare domain at 65 percent, the gender and discrimination domain at 53.33 percent. Meanwhile, the field and employment opportunities domain is 45 percent and the participation and leadership domain is 43.33 percent.
