Commemoration of the 76th State Defense Day in 2024

Thursday, (19/12/2024) BPS Bandung City held a ceremony to commemorate the 76th State Defense Day of 2024 with the theme “Encourage State Defense for Advanced Indonesia”. Representing the Head of BPS Bandung City, Any Heryani, S.ST read the mandate of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The commemoration of State Defense Day that we carry out today is to commemorate the struggles that have been carried out by heroes in defending the sovereignty of the country.   Through the historical event of Dutch Military Aggression II on December 19, 1948, the heroes showed their persistence and efforts to reclaim the capital city of Yogyakarta. The city, which at that time was a symbol of the government of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

It should be realized that the development of the current strategic and geopolitical environment shows increasingly complex dynamics and has the potential to have a significant impact on global security.    Tensions between countries, shifting alliances, and increasing competition for control of strategic resources have created uncertainty.    In addition, issues such as regional conflicts, cyber warfare and climate change affect international security. Therefore, it is necessary to anticipate, align, update defense policies, and implement the right national defense strategy.   This is to face challenges in the context of implementing the Universal People's Security Defense System (Sishankamrata).

Sishankamrata is the best national defense strategy because Indonesia has the advantage of population and vast archipelago. In this context, the Ministry of Defense has implemented the State Defense Awareness Development (PKBN) program.  This PKBN activity is one of the efforts of the mental revolution through the development of national character in the scope of education, society and work.    This is in line with the 8 (eight) Asta Cita of the Red and White Cabinet, namely strengthening the ideology of Pancasila and strengthening the development of SOM towards the Golden Indonesia 2045.

Pancasila ideology that remains strong as a basic guideline for every citizen is expected to be able to answer the various challenges of global situations full of uncertainty.    State defense as the behavior of citizens who are imbued with the basic values of state defense such as love for the homeland, aware of the nation and state, believe in Pancasila as the state ideology and have the initial ability to defend the country.

Keep in mind, the task of defending the country does not only belong to the Ministry of Defense, TNI and Polri, but is the duty and obligation of all of us as all components of the nation.  With the spirit of state defense, I believe we are able to face various obstacles and achieve the ideals of the nation.   Let us together offer the best dedication to the nation in accordance with our respective roles and professions. “National defense is a national goal of our nation.   And the goal of the Republic of Indonesia is to protect the entire Indonesian blood, the entire safety of the nation, the entire wealth of the nation, and the entire future of the nation.  And that can only be guaranteed by a strong defense”.
