Bandung City continues to improve the quality
of its statistical data as a basis for development planning and evaluation.
This was revealed in an audience between the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS)
of Bandung City and the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ir. A. Koswara, M.P., along
with Assistant 2 for Economy and Development of Bandung City Eric Mohamad
Atthauriq, S.H., Bappelitbang, Diskominfo, Disnaker, and the Economy Section
which took place at the Bandung City Hall on Wednesday, November 12, 2024.
The Head of BPS Bandung City, Samiran S.Si,
M.T., on the occasion conveyed the latest developments related to the
characteristics and unemployment rate in Bandung City. “The unemployment rate
in Bandung City has decreased by 1.43 percent in 2024 compared to the previous
year,” said Samiran. This decrease indicates an increase in labor absorption in
the Flower City. The decline in unemployment is good news for Bandung, which is
known as the center of economy, tourism and education in West Java. Various
efforts made by the Bandung government have significantly contributed to the
improvement of labor conditions.
In addition to discussing unemployment,
Samiran also explained the activities of BPS Bandung City during 2024. One of
the flagship programs being implemented is the Sectoral Statistics Development
(PSS) 'Statistical Surgery' on 60 regional apparatus within the Bandung City
Government. “This coaching aims to improve the quality and reliability of
sectoral statistical data. Statistical Review activities are carried out to
build and strengthen the National Statistics System (SSN) in realizing
statistical activities that meet the principle of One Data Indonesia to produce
accurate, up-to-date, integrated and accountable data. Quality sectoral
statistical data is very important to be used to meet the needs of certain
government agencies in the context of carrying out government duties in
development,” added Samiran.
Responding to this, Pj. Mayor of Bandung, Ir.
A. Koswara, M.P., appreciated the efforts of BPS Bandung City in improving the
quality of statistical data. Koswara also expressed his full support for the
Sectoral Statistics Development program.
“We strongly support this Sectoral Statistics Development program.
Accurate statistical data is very important for the government in making the
right development policies,” said Koswara.
Furthermore, Koswara also said that the Bandung City Government will be
committed to supporting all villages in the region as Love Statistics Villages.
This is in line with the wishes of the Regional Secretary of West Java
Province, Dr. Drs. Herman Suryatman, M.Si., who wants all villages in West Java
Province to become Love Statistics Villages.
“We will continue to encourage Cicadas Village, Cibeunying Kidul
District, as a pilot project in the Love Statistics Village program in
2024. The success of this program will be a reference for other villages in
Bandung City in the next coaching program,” concluded Koswara. It is hoped that
urban villages are no longer objects of development but have become the subject
and spearhead of development in improving community welfare through quality
data.
