Agency held an apple in April 2024. In her mandate, Vira Wahyuningrum, as the Intermediate Expert of Bandung City BPS conveyed the mandate of the apple from the Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics.
One of the macro indicators that is routinely released by BPS every mid-month is the trade balance. The release of this indicator is certainly highly anticipated by observers and policy makers. In addition to disseminating trade performance indicators, in its data release BPS always presents the latest information on global economic events. This is an effort made by BPS so that the data disseminated can directly provide insight and the resulting indicators can be more relevant in answering global issues.
Another indicator that plays an important role in the national economy is the price index. BPS as a data provider has produced price indices in various levels and calculation scopes, such as the Producer Price Index, Wholesale Trade Price Index, and Consumer Price Index. The Price Index is able to provide information related to changes in economic conditions to the government, business and business sectors, labor and the public, so that it can be used as a basis for guidance in making economic decisions.
BPS will continue to be committed in providing quality statistical data from time to time so that the data produced is not just numbers but also able to provide insight for decision and policy makers. BPS is also committed to continuing to innovate in modernizing statistical business processes through resource efficiency and improving data quality. The increased use of CAPI data collection mode, or what we call as FASIH, is expected to cut the statistical business process from traditional data collection through data flow automation and realtime data monitoring. In 2024, there are an additional 10 survey activities in the Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics that use the CAPI data collection mode. In improving the quality of statistical data, the data collection stage is a crucial stage because it is highly dependent on the response from respondents and other data producers. Therefore, the Central BPS, Provincial BPS, Regency / City BPS, as well as all partners involved must continue to strictly carry out quality assurance so that indicators that reach data users can be assured of accuracy and validity.
All levels of BPS in Indonesia are aware that 2024 is a transition year for BPS' grand agenda, namely from the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) to the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026).
The series of follow-up ST2023 activities carried out in Fiscal Year 2024 include:
1. Release of ST2023 Phase II Results publication;
2. Agricultural Economic Survey in June 2024; and
3. Thematic Analysis of ST2023 Complete Enumeration Results.
While the series of SE2026 activities that will be implemented this year include:
1. SE2026 pilot test which is planned for July 2024;
2. Updating the Directory of Businesses/Economic Enterprises and Analysis Study of Business Statistics Units; and
3. Geospatial Framework Updating and Wilkerstat Content Test.
On this occasion, I invite all levels of BPS to formulate the best strategy in synergizing the grand activities of ST2023 and SE2026 in the midst of other routine BPS activities.
