Wednesday (17/07/2024) The Bandung City Statistics Agency held an apple in July 2024. In his speech, Samiran, as the Head of BPS Bandung City, conveyed the mandate of the apple from the Deputy for Statistical Methodology and Information. By becoming a member of the OECD, there are several strategic benefits for Indonesia including:

1. Catalyze domestic reform;

2. Increase investment attractiveness

3. OECD standard setting participation

4. As a signal that Indonesia is transforming into a developed country

5. Increasing Indonesia's influence at the global level


Specifically for BPS, Indonesia's membership in the OECD is beneficial as:

1. Accelerating the transformation of BPS in strengthening the development of the    National Statistical System through the implementation of international standard statistics;

2. Opportunity to share and interact with OECD experts;

3. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement

The direction of transformation that is currently being carried out by BPS is already running with recommendations from the OECD on statistical good practices. There are 4 major transformation efforts of BPS in producing various outputs that are very useful for the progress of statistics in Indonesia, namely:

1. Strengthening the regulatory framework, such as the revision of the statistics law, PP on the National Statistics System, to produce a national statistical regulatory framework;

2. Strengthening statistical methodology, including SNA 2025, Maritime GDP, and statistical governance in an effort to produce good practices in the field of statistics;

3. Strengthening of statistical business processes, such as the National Statistical Infrastructure System (SISNAS) and improvement of requirement specifications; 4.

4. Institutional Strengthening through institutional structuring, budget and performance to produce a strong national statistical institutional framework
